Neutrik Group has inspired people around the world right from the very beginning. What began 1975 as a two-man business in a farmhouse in Liechtenstein has grown into the world market leader in a wide range of market segments.

First there was an idea

of company founder Bernhard Weingartner who started Neutrik’s success story in Obergass 16, Schaan/Liechtenstein.

Setting standards with the revolutionary XLR D series, Neutrik developed the first XLRs with equal installation dimensions for the male and female parts. Today, the D format is a global standard used for a variety of audio and video connectors.

Screwless XLR

Neutrik’s drive for innovation was never ending. Even after the great success of the C and D series, the Neutrik team tackled the advancement of the XLR connector. The objective was to develop a connector without any screws.

Founding of Neutrik (UK) Ltd. and Neutrik Zurich AG (Contrik AG)

Neutrik takes over the company “Technical Projects” on the Isle of Wight and establishes itself in Great Britain with its subsidiary Neutrik (UK) Ltd. In the same year, Neutrik Zurich is launched to support the Swiss market by providing it with NEUTRIK products.

speakON

The next trend-setting innovation was a standardized system for speakers and amplifiers. In addition, the European Low Voltage Directive was implemented, which required that all connectors suitable for voltages higher than 50 V must be fully protected against inadvertent contact. This system offered protection against inadvertent contact both on the receptacle as well as on the cable plug.

With the founding of Neutrik USA Inc., the first subsidiary outside Europe is established.

XLR A Series

In line with the trend of audio equipment miniaturization and PCB integration, the market needed a smaller XLR receptacle. Neutrik responded with the A series. Various grounding options were offered to address the Pin 1 problem.

Yamaha in Japan was the first user of the A series. This product also managed to gain global acceptance and to become a world standard.

The Combo connector ingeniously combined XLR and ¼ inch jack inputs into one connector. Birthed at Neutrik and extremely well within the audio industry, the Combo series became a worldwide standard soon after its introduction.

Founding of Ningbo Neutrik Electronic Co, Ltd.

After conquering the western markets Neutrik began to focus on the East.

Based on the outstanding success of the speakON connector system, Neutrik developed a single-phase locking AC connector system. It is the standard for all professional moving-head light systems and other AV product categories.

Founding of Neutrik Vertriebs GmbH, Germany

The distribution rights for Germany were transferred to the newly established German sales organization, Neutrik Vertriebs GmbH.

By ruggedizing the existing RJ45 connector within a metal, locking system, Neutrik transformed a consumer product into a professional solution suitable for stage and industrial applications.

Neutrik decided to take over its longstanding distributor in France and established Neutrik’s own base in France.

One Billion Connectors Sold

From 1983, when the first million connectors had come off the assembly line, to 2015, Neutrik sold one-thousand times the connectors. Due to this impressive number, Neutrik can claim without exaggeration to be the market leader in the area of XLR connectors.

New warehouse

A new high-bay warehouse with around 15,000 storage spaces was launched to address ever-increasing demand.
